Pelosi takes us Back in the USSR!

Well, not quite, but that's what it sounds like. On Friday the halls of congress resembled something closer to that of a Cold War dictatorship. In case you missed it, and by the way this was covered by the mainstream media, you probably could have, House Speaker Pelosi (D) decided to shut the lights off, turn the microphones off, and even shut C-Span cameras off instead of discussing a real solution to America's gas and energy problem. She even had the media removed! In fact, the Republicans had/have a plan, but Pelosi took it upon herself to shut down shop early on Friday and take vacation. This move looked like something Fidel Castro would have pulled on its people in Communist Cuba.

This should send a chill up the spine of any American who isn't spineless. This is politics taken to a new slimy level that probably is even making some Democrats a little bit nervous. Imagine if Newt Gingrich would have done this to the Democrats back in the Clinton years? He would have been hung up on a tree until the vultures ate his eyes out. If one person, who isn't even of the highest office, can essentially censor other law makers, who, by the way, are representing "the People", what does that say about the state of our country?

Here is the deal: Nancy Pelosi knows that the GOP have a plan that can, and will work. Slowly, but surely, Democrats are crossing the aisle to support this plan because they know the plan is the right one, and the majority of Americans are asking for it. But Pelosi, along with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (also a Democrat) can't allow a GOP energy plan to be voted on, and passed in an election year. Democrats like Pelosi and Reid feel it is more important to have no plan at all, and take an early long vacation, instead of working for the American people and passing a bill that will work. What does this say about Mrs. Pelosi, who claims to have the desire to bring the country together? I will let you make that decision, it seems pretty obvious to me. And while this angers me, and makes me a bit nervous, it ultimately saddens me. It makes me sad because there will be a large population of people who are ill informed of details, like the event that happened in Congress Friday, and will cast their votes for leaders who have no real interest in truly solving the real problems in our country. Where we go from here may be a preview of where this country is going.
