"Chinese need to be controlled"

Jackie Chan's Hollywood Star- hipcocracy in stone?

Depending on what crowd our new president is talking to, Barack Obama has put many Communist/totalitarian governments on pedestools. During the previous Olympics in China, we witnessed a drooling media gawk at China's incredible display of modern infrastructure in their major cities- while the Chinese people work for slave wages.

Maybe it was the language barrier keeping him from spinning it, but martial arts master and Hollywood actor Jackie Chan explained, "I'm not sure if it's good to have freedom or not".

He continued, "I'm gradually beginning to feel that we Chinese need to be controlled. If we're not being controlled, we'll just do what we want."

This is the kind of thinking that our own leaders in the United States obviously believe in. A free people is dangerous to a goverment whose power exists in dominating every part of the life of its people. They might rise up, and revolt against tyrrany. And then the oppressers might lose their stronghold.

The irony behind Jackie Chan's statement is that he, himself, has been able to live a life only dreamed about by most Chinese. Had he been controlled the way he thinks his fellow Chinese need to be controlled, he might be working in the fields of China for pennies. But like most Communist loving celebrities and leaders, there is a "good for them, not me" way of viewing the world.

Chan's final comment is the icing on the "Communist cake, "If we're not being controlled, we'll just do what we want".

Yes Mr. Chan, that is the beautiful thing about freedom that you, yourself, have been able to experience- we can do what we want. What a concept!
